Abstract We have investigated the accelerating behaviour of Universe in f ( Q , T ) gravity an isotropic and homogeneous space-time. initially derive dynamical parameters general form $$f(Q,T)=\alpha Q^m+\beta T$$ f ( Q , T ) = α m + β (Xu et al. Eur Phys J C 79:708, 2019) then split it into two cases (i) one with $$m=1$$ 1 (ii) other $$\beta =0$$ 0 . In first case, reduces to linear functional second case leads higher power nonmetricity assumed hyperbolic scale factor, models are constructed its evolutionary behaviours studied. The geometrical as well equation state parameter obtained found be preferred range cosmological observations. Marginal variation has been noticed $$\omega $$ ω _{eff}$$ eff at present time. violation strong energy conditions both shown. system analysis for performed.
